Reflection for February 11

How can anyone ever know what a man
has to overcome in himself?

—Oscar Wilde

Reflection

Being with ourselves is the hardest thing of all. And as
was heard said at a meeting–"Sometimes I'm the kind
of guy I would avoid at all costs." Part of the pain of
recovery is in risking being alone with all of our
unnamed fears and our feelings of inadequacy. Recov-
ery is about letting ourselves receive the help we need
to come to our true nature by recognizing our demons
and learning to live with them. But we can't do it
alone. Share your feelings at meetings and with those
close to you. Discovering how similar we are to others

Affirmation

When I'm enmeshed in the loneliness and isolation of
my fear, help me to live in the reality of my recovery
and see through the falseness of my fears.
