One of the saddest things is that the only thing
a man can do for eight hours is work.
He can't eat for eight hours,
nor drink for eight hours,
nor make love for eight hours.
—William Faulkner
Reflection
Is that a fact? Well, Mr. Faulkner, either you are not an
alcoholic or don't know any, but there are some who
drink for not only eight but sixteen and even twenty-
four hours, and if there is a sniff or two of cocaine
available , the drinker's self-destructive horizons are
boundless.
Affirmation
O Great Timekeeper, let me take the next hour, enjoy-
ing the wonder of life sans alcohol. Now I can breathe,
see, feel, hear, taste, and smell all that liberates my life.
