Reflection for February 9

A Cocktail (definition, from the 19th century):

"A stimulating liquor which renders the heart stout
and bold and at the same time fuddles the head.
Said to be of great use to Republicans,
because a person having swallowed a glass of it
is ready to swallow anything else."

Reflection

Nothing is more repellent to the average healthy per-
son than to be told to take something "because it is
good for you"–usually some foul-tasting, unattractive
commodity.

Affirmation

Today, I'll be happy to abstain from that which kills
me, and maybe tomorrow I'll take that which is good.
