Reflection for March 9

"My country right or wrong"
is something no true patriot
would ever think of saying.

It's like saying,
"my mother, drunk or sober."

Reflection

A drunken mother is like any other drunk: someone
flattened by alcohol. Being a mother or a patriot does
not lessen the power of the disease, though some folk
will think it's a sign of devoted motherhood or patri-
otism to get drunk on certain occasions.

Affirmation

As a parent today, let me show by example that sobri-
ety is the best path, and may my mouth open only to
smile at my family.
