Reflection for April 11

The young disease that most subdue at length,
Grows with his growth and strengthens
with his strength.

—Alexander Pope,
Essay on Man

Reflection

Alcoholism is like being invaded by parasites and can-
cer. We don't know when we have been invaded, but
very subtly the disease becomes us and takes over all
our human functions. In ancient Irish mythology, peo-
ple thus altered were called "changelings".

Affirmation

If I'm willing to listen, I can be a co-physician with a
Higher Power to expel all invaders from our body this
day.
