Reflection for April 20

The alcoholic eventually takes the form
of a whiskey bottle—
all neck and belly, and no trace of a head.

—Austin O'Malley

Reflection

The spectacle of the headless chicken comes to mind.
Are we any less absurd or close to death, floundering,
thrashing, all the while imagining that we're in control
of our lives?

Affirmation

If I can keep my wits around others who are losing
theirs, I may be tempted to use them. Tempt me, O
Lord!
