Reflection for April 29

An honest man can feel no pleasure
in the exercise of power over his fellow citizens.

—Thomas Jefferson

Reflection

Being honest is not merely saying things. Some of us
think we are being truthful when we point out defects
in other people's characters. Of course, we are just
being self-righteous and judgemental at such times. True
honesty is difficult, since it is almost beyond the capac-
ity of ordinary humans. All we can do is be thoughtful
and considerate of ourselves and others in all of our
doings.

Affirmation

Today, I'll not confuse being right with being honest.
