An alcoholic atheist is a man
who wishes to God he could believe.
—A paraphrase of Dr. John McLaffy
Reflection
As the condition is one of "lacks" (lack of physical
health, lack of emotional stability, and lack of spiritu-
ality), the victim knows he is in desperate need to get
surcease from the pain. So, of course, we say contra-
dictory things and angry things against God, who
doesn't arrive unless invited.
Affirmation
This day, I'll take into my life a God. Who doesn't mind
if I perspire and Who likes laughter.
